Kaos Protokoll — New Chapter

The Swiss Post-Jazz outfit Kaos Protokoll returns with a beautiful, pensive, meandering 4-song EP entitled New Chapter. The release was put together as a prelude to the forthcoming LP (Everybody Nowhere), which will drop this coming fall. The songs presented here were taken directly from the LP sessions and, true to the title, they mark a beginning of a completely new, sonic chapter in the band’s history. 

Gone is the caustic, punky bite of previous efforts, what we get instead, are very moody, sprawling, melodic tapestries that recall the tranquility of some of Coltrane’s more introspective ballads, as well as the mellower end of 60s Spiritual Jazz. The semblance is in the spirit and the approach, mainly, as the actual playing, the use of electronic textures and enhancements, the "beat scene" inspired articulations and the sound design are undoubtedly modern.
